Building update

Katy Warner/ October 22, 2020/ PSA

Dear Friends,

Though our physical building is not currently open to the public, the experiment of community building continues.  The Sanctuary is constantly learning how to better operate an inclusive and loving community arts center that brings hearts together, demonstrates a new way of sharing,  and provides opportunities to elevate marginalized voices.  We give honor to the stewardship of this land and the Native American Tribes that make up Humboldt County and especially the Wiyot Tribe whose land we gather on. We encourage you to create sanctuary wherever you are with whomever you’re with.  Meanwhile this Sanctuary offers the following programming, all the love in the world, and much more.

J Street Regulars Radio Hour: Monday – Friday 7-8 pm

Artists give a one hour program to communicate and connect, to send the healing sounds of music, to educate on American Music History and celebrate Artists of Color, and more.

Artists are still being artists. Sunday – Saturday 24-7

People are making posters, growing sharing and preserving food, sewing, drawing, dreaming, writing, dancing, and more in the community.  Sanctuary artists are distributing mail art thank you gifts to contributors, and if you walk by in the morning you might be invited to do a Mad Libs or observe or play the Word Bath game.  Check in on our ever expanding online art gallery or sign up for our email newsletter to receive news, art, creative writing, and prompts for new ways of thinking or interacting with the world.  Stay tuned for upcoming online Workshop demos sponsored by the GraceUs Foundation.
