J Street Regulars Radio Hour June 2021
Last month for the season, tune in!
After over 300 shows starting April 6th 2020, the J Street Regulars Radio Hour will be taking a break! June 18th will be our final show of regular 5 night a week programming. Huuuuuge thank yous to all our collaborators and supporters. It’s been an honor and pleasure to work with so many amazing musicians, poets, and artists from our community. Last I counted we were able to provide regular paying gigs to well over 50 local musicians and poets.
Though the list of contributors is far too long to include, I found joy in providing a gig for some really great performers who had little or no professional experience, but have been working hard at their craft during the pandemic. Recent HSU graduate Grant Hempy, a student of Jennifer Trowbridge, performed his first paying gig on Radio Hour, a fantastic hour long classical guitar recital. Anele Martinez performed that same night, March 19th, and wowed us with her incredible voice and marvelous, emotional rendition of La Llorona.
What does the future hold for the J St. Regs Radio Hour? Well, we’re not done yet. We have some awesome shows coming up this month, so check out the schedule and tune in.
Beyond June, we’ll be putting on some special one-off shows this summer, and keep your ear out for possible collaborations between Radio Hour and the Arcata Playhouse. We’ll also be releasing recordings from Radio Hour for purchase on our website.
Well, thank you, thank you, thank you. If you’ve enjoyed Radio Hour half as much as me, you’ve had a ball. Hope to see you tuning in for the last few weeks, then, enjoy those sunny summer evenings. With hugs, appreciation and love always, James Alfred Tyson Zeller, esquire, signing off.
